Deflection or Taper Reaming Shell is used to run behind a non coring bit to enlarge the diameter of the borehole to the required size.
To change the direction of a drilled hole Bull Nose Deflection bits are used and the Tongue type is a development of the large diameter bits commonly used in oil field drilling.
Drainage and injection drilling, dynamite, grout and drain holes can be counted as the main application areas of these bits. Because of their advantages such as less vibration, high penetration rate and less change of deviation they can be used instead of rock bits.
